Really looking into the brain !

[viddler id=82eef975&h=370&w=437]

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, really looks into the brain:
Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened — as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding — she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

I highly recommend this 18 minutes on our brains !

Interesting presentation. The woman had a mystical experience triggered by a massive stroke. I’m not sure that what she says correlates with the standard model of cerebral hemisphere function. What she’s saying is that the two sides of our brains have completely different personalities. In her particular case this may be true, but I don’t think you can generalize the experience of one person to the whole human race. The answer to human social problems is not to shut off half our brains, but to use all our brains for decent ends. A very interesting and animated lecture.
